YouTube Channel redesign: An overview and some quick tips

Last week was a time of major announcements in the social media world. Google+ profiles and pages got a new look and Facebook introduced its revamped News Feed.

But it was not all. The new YouTube Channels are officially here!

Today, I spent a couple of hours looking around YouTube, editing my profile, and taking screenshots.

Google outdid itself. The new channels are sleek, and more interactive and engaging than ever! Plus, they have been optimized to fit all screens (laptops, phones, tablets, TVs).

A few tips to make your Channel pop

Take full advantage of the new redesign. Optimize your profile as much as possible:

  • Fill out your bio with concise and relevant information.
  • Add links to your website(s), blog(s), and social media profiles in the About section.
  • Your channel art (banner) can contain text. So, why not include a call to action?
  • Create a trailer to entice people to subscribe to your channel.
  • Use the featured sections under your trailer to display your most popular videos, tags, and / or playlists.

Feeling like upgrading to the new Channel layout? Visit http://www.youtube.com/onechannel.

Now, it’s your time to speak. What do you think about the redesign?

Yes I seen this new look of youtube channel, Well personally I didn’t like this new youtube channle design. Old one was better than this new look. Do you have any idea to revert old youtube channel look.

      Hello Disha,

Yes, you can revert to the old design by going back to the page you visited to get the new format. A word of warning, though. You won’t be able to avoid the new profiles after June.

Everything is OK except the “add section part”. This whole thing is bull crap. They don’t show how to rearrange the order. They don’t explain how you can move videos from one section to the other, how to move one section to upper or lower level. Its all bunch of crap.

      Hello Fredrick,

I don’t agree with you. You have the choice to display your videos in quite a flexible way, and rearrange everything very easily.

    Hey Cendrine,
Changes are always refreshing but many a times hard in terms of accepting. Same is happening with the Youtube, the new designing is nice and cool, but people are habitual to the old design and functionaries which is acting as the hindrance in terms of accepting the new look. The tips are nice and simple. Thanks for the share.

I honestly don’t like the way Youtube revamped their design. I find it very inconvenient. I’m a neat freak and I really don’t like the redesign schemes but thank you for your post.
