Content curation: An introduction (slideshow)

In 2013, companies and entrepreneurs cannot just self-promote and expect audiences to buy their products or hire them for their skills.

If you want to stand out from the competition, you have to show off your skills in different ways:

  • By producing relevant articles, videos, pictures, etc.
  • By sharing other people’s great content

Creating content is a great thing, but there are only 24 hours in a day, and inspiration is not always around the corner. However, you still need to find an alternative way to serve your audience. That’s where content curation comes into play.

The following slideshow is extracted from a workshop I facilitated last week.

I’d argue that Paper.li is not about curation, but just pure aggregation.

Actually, it is both. You can choose to curate content if you want. I do it frequently with the content I find on the Internet.

It’s quite an interesting topic really. But I would need more background on the topic. Thanks for sharing this thought. Gave me an overview on curation.

You are right, there are so many hours in a day and sharing other people’s great content can be a good way to build up interest. Curation is definitely a thing one should consider in case of business or product promoting.

    Hi Cendrine,

I have to agree with you that creating content is a great thing but the problem is that it needs a lot of time and effort that’s is why I switch to content curation for my blog and my audience was really happy mainly because I only curate high quality contents from popular blogs in regards to my niche and which I think my audience will surely love to read. But to be honest I might not really able to curate high quality topics in much lesser time without the help of a software which is called CurationSoft, I’m using the PRO version because it has a lot of features which really helps my blog to widen my resources but to people out there that is just starting curating contents I suggest to use the software too which has free version, which you can get it here: http://curationsoft.com/free-download1/

Again thanks Cendrine for the great introduction for content curation.

    Happy curating everyone!
